What is World mental health day?

World Mental Health Day   (10 October) is a day for worldwide mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma. This day was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with many members across countries. On this day, thousands of supporters come to celebrate this annual awareness program to bring attention to mental illness and its major effects on peoples' life worldwide. Basically, it is an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness of mental health issues and advocate against social stigma.

The day provides an opportunity to add to the fantastic work you're already doing to address mental health stigma in the workplace.

When is world mental health day 2019 observed?

This day was celebrated for the first time on October 10, 1992, at the initiative of Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter. Initially, until 1994, they had no specific theme other than general promoting mental health advocacy and educating the public. In 1994, this day was celebrated with a theme for the first time at the suggestion of the Secretary General Eugene Brody. The theme was “Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services worldwide. The day is supported by WHO through raising awareness on mental health issues using its strong relationships with the Ministries of health and civil society organizations across the globe.
What is the theme for World Mental health day 2019?

Mental Health Issues Results in taking millions of lives due to society’s collective failure to deal with these issues. On this day, for the year 2019, the theme is ‘Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention.’ This was done with the suggestion of then Secretary-General Eugene Brody. The theme was “Improving the Quality of Mental Health Services throughout the World.”

What is the goal of this mental health?

On this day of World Mental Health Day, we encourage you all to consider how you can create good habits for your health, by keeping a track on exercising, being active and eating good to elevate your mood levels. Make sure you include food and supplements that are essential for keeping the mental health right!
