Match Preview - India vs England T-20 Series

Prepare for a series that will take yourself on a rollercoaster trip.

India blew away England in 4 Match Test series to book their place in ICC World Test Championship Final but that is done and dusted now. It’s time for the two Powerhouses to take up the white ball challenge. As limited overs leg kicks off with five T-20’s Internationals in Ahmedabad followed by three ODIs at Pune.

India vs New Look England

Confident India vs New Look England

Shikhar Dhawan is back but expect India to rotate him and the two right handers (Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul) throughout the series. Rishabh Pant recent exploits should be enough for him to keep KL Rahul off his wicket keeping duties. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur will work together to share the new ball with Deepak Chahar.

For England, pace ace Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes will try to forget test series hangover. The majority of other caste begins the tour with a clean slate on the white ball leg. Eoin Morgan will play a crucial part with the batting as well as with his captaincy.

Captain Kohli nearing Milestone

Virat Kohli’s Barren Run continues during the test series as well. 36 Innings across all formats without a hundred. While the Indian Skipper scored 2 fifties’ during the series, the failure to convert into a three figure score must be a worry for team management now. Kohli was India’s highest run getter when the Men in blue won the T-20 Internationals series against Australia in December. The Indian Captain is also the leading run scorer in the T-20 internationals and must set the tempo for the side in the world cup year.

First look at Dawid Malan on Indian Tracks

Indian fans will get their first look at David Malan who was one of the hot picks at the VIVO IPL Auction. The Left hander has the highest average of any batsman with at least 15 T-20 Internationals knocks and an explosive strike rate of nearly 150 to go with that Consistency. He is currently ranked first in the ICC T-20 World Rankings (Batsman) and his sessional performance helped England whitewash South Africa last year. Malan has waited for long time for a chance at the top level and with almost certainly punch his ticket to the World Cup with a strong showing against India on Indian soil which are expected to assist spinners.

Which Genius Will Swing the even Contest?

The Test series was a completely one side affair but the T-20s Internationals will be far more fearlessly contested. England are the Number One T-20 side in the world and India are just behind in the second place. England have won 7 of last 8 series while India have won 6 of last 7 series. In fact, Men in Blue were the last team to get better of Morgan’s men, so there is nothing to choose between the two as far head to head is concerned.

All this points will add spice to the series and both teams have wicket-keepers with needed X-factor. Between Rishabh Pant and Jos Buttler we’re going to see the fearless batting and the winner of this mini-battle could tip the scales in their side’s favour.
The English are a tough challenge in the shorter format of the game, But India have won the last two T-20 International series against them.

So Virat Kohli’s Men go into this series as prime favorites despite England’s T-20 International powers. Can India translate their Test match success into the T-20’s? Only time will tell that.
