DC & CSK are in top two positions at the halfway mark
Indian Premier League 2021 is all the to resume in UAE from 19th September, 2021 with two of the most successful teams – MI & CSK playing against each other in the first match of UAE leg. The league came to a halt due to Covid-19 outbreaks in several team camps and hence, the organizers decided to postpone the tournament. When the tournament came to a halt, all other teams had played 7 matches while table-toppers Delhi Capital and Punjab Kings had played 8 matches each.
With the second half scheduled to begin in UAE, all teams will have to resume from the scratch and put forward their case to finish in the top four to lay their hands on the IPL Trophy.
IPL 2021 Points Table
(After conclusion of Indian leg)
Notably, last year finalist MI & DC are in top four while CSK & RCB too are placed in top rankings with only NRR separating both teams, at the halfway stage.
RR & PBKS have 6 points whereas KKR & SRH haven’t really set the stage on fire during the Indian leg of the tournament.
The top-3 teams – Delhi, Chennai & Bangalore look well placed to book a slot in top four when the round-robin league ends. While DC & CSK will look to consolidate their position in top-2, RCB will try to break it into the top two position to get the benefits of playing the direct qualifier match.
However, the second leg will be a fresh start for all teams and starting from where they had left will be top priority for all the teams.
Last season champions, Mumbai Indians, are in top four rankings, however, they are still to play up to their potential and complete their triplet. Rajasthan & Punjab are placed fifth and sixth respectively. Both teams are close to break into top half and would hope that the new replacements will bring positive energy and needed firepower to accelerate their campaign.
Kolkata & Hyderabad both have won the elusive IPL trophy before but the Indian leg of IPL 2021 didn’t turn out, as they would have planned. Both team are lagging in the bottom half and will need to draw some inspiration from MI’s 2014 season-winning turnaround and motivate their players to bring out their best and transform their campaign for their own good.
The second half of IPL which will held in UAE has provided perfect break for teams in the bottom of the table to rethink and make necessary changes in their strategies to make a comeback while the top four teams will like to carry the momentum from first half and at the same time overcome weaknesses if any.
