KKR while batting first got to a competitive 172-5 because of Nitish Rana's 87 off 61 balls & some crisp smashing during the death overs by Dinesh Karthik (21* off 10). CSK did manage to pull things back in the middle-overs but leaked away 66 runs in the final 5 overs.

Lungi Ngidi who ended up taking 2/34 was the best pick of bowlers for Chennai Super Kings, while Sam Curran bowled impressively early on. KKR's innings were largely built on Nitish Rana's knock which included ten 4'S & four 6's. The southpaw was a perfect combination of caution & aggression which helped him overcome a sluggish phase in the middle overs, playing some lovely shots.

When CSK came into bat, they started-off nice scoring 44 runs in the powerplay. Watson, who was replaced for Faf du Plessis kept struggling before he tried to hit one out of the park which didn't come off pretty well & ended up giving Chakravarthy his 1st wicket.

Gaikwad & Rayadu stood for a 68-run partnership, during which they played some blistering shots. Very soon Rayadu was dismissed by Pat Cummins going for a biggie.

Following Rayadu's dismissal, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who walked in at 4, fell to spinner Chakravarthy for 2nd time in this season. He tried to make room for himself & played a forcing shot, ended up playing all over the delivery, and lose his stumps.

Ravindra Jadeja smashed back-to-back sixes in the final over as Chennai Super Kings clinched a thriller 6-wicket victory on Thursday, putting a big dent to Kolkata Knight Rider's chances of getting to the Indian Premier League playoffs. CSK needing 10 off the final over, Jadeja (31* off 11 balls) dispatched Kamlesh Nagarkoti for consecutive 6's to pull off yet another consolatory victory for the CSK side, who are already out of the play-offs race.
