IPL 2020: Highlights of Chennai Super Kings VS Rajasthan Royals

IPL is always known to bring the best out of talented players, and yesterday spectators witnessed one of its kind. In the 4th match of the 13th edition of IPL which was against CSK and RR, Sanju Samson, emerged out to be the star, as his effortless six-hitting abilities did the talking, followed by Jofra Archer’s extraordinary all-round exhibit that helped Rajasthan Royals to beat Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs at the Sharjah cricket stadium on Tuesday.

RR is known as one of the weakest among eight teams, with the absence of Ben Stokes and Jos Butler, Royals did the best they could under the leadership of skipper Steve Smith. On a placid Sharjah pitch, Royals tallied 216 for 7 with the assistance of Samson's 74 off 32 balls that had nine maximums apart from a numerous boundaries. Skipper Steve Smith also provided the much needed anchoring for Samson to make it big, Smith made his opening debut in the T20 format yesterday and scored 69 off 47 balls with an ease. 

But it was Archer's four sixes smashed to Lungi Ngidi in the final over that led 30 runs coming off it. The scoreboard at the end read 200+. Pressure mounted and CSK still managed 200 for 6 with Archer (1/26 off 4 overs) swinging it in favor of Royals with a decisive 19th over.

CSK, however, had put their share of efforts. Faf du Plessis (72 off 37 balls) with Dhoni's (29 off 17 balls) three sixes in final over were in a lost cause. Nonetheless, the night was for Samson, a player who was always underrated for his talent but criticized for his lack of consistency. Speaking of the score tally, IPL 2020 saw its first 200 plus score, courtesy Samson's 32-ball 74, Smith's balanced 47-ball 69. The Tournament has been 4 days old, and we are already witnessing eye-drooling performances.
