CSK Vs RR Match Summary - Fast&Up

Jos Butler and leg spinners Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia held head high as they helped RR to win against the mightiest Chennai Super Kings. After CSK winning the toss, the yellow troop was bundled in just 125 runs off 5 wickets making the Royals come closer to the playoffs. Shreyas Gopal and Tewatia were at their finest as they didn't conceded a single boundary and bowled 23 dots between them. All in all, CSK batsmen faced 51 dots and found difficult to pick momentum throughout the innings.

CSK’s fast bowlers Deepak Chahar and Josh Hazlewood managed to get some swing going and were successful at dismissing the Royals' top three within five overs. It was the skipper Steven Smith who struggled in the early overs, but Buttler anchored the innings maturely and finished the chase with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare, which helped to improve their net run-rate tremendously.

Apart from the spinners, RR seamer Jofra Archer too put in the best with speed of 145-150kph, which assisted in sending Sam Curran back in the dugout. At that moment, Chennai Super Kings were 53 for 3 in the ninth over, with the loss of Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson. CSK went 50 balls without a boundary and despite Ravindra Jadeja helped overcome the absence of boundaries with four fours, the Super Kings winded up with the lowest score batting first this IPL.

Altogether CSK managed to hit 13 fours, while Buttler alone hit nine and skipper Steven Smith was anchoring with a strike rate of 75 and Buttler nearly doubled that strike rate. He was all over against the CSK bowlers sparing none of them. Both Jadeja and Piyush Chawla, who came into the attack, during the 13th over, found it difficult to get the grip and turns as what the Royals' spinners had done. Buttler raised his fifty off 37 balls against Chawla's wrong'un for six and then helped the Royals home.
