How would you know whether you have the flu, cold or the Covid?

The winter season has arrived sweaters are out and everybody is feeling the chills. Along with it, we have usual visitor flue and cold. There is a small difference this year. We all are fighting another virus called covid 19 and that makes things a little complicated. A virus causes flu, cold and covid. They also get spread the same way through the droplets of infected people. It can be a while before people find out that they are infected while spreading them all this time. What also creates problems is that they show similar symptoms causing confusion amongst people.

Let’s understand what the common symptoms of covid are.

It can causes fever, cough, and tiredness, loss of taste or smell. Some less common symptoms include headache, diarrhoea, a rash on the skin and red-eye. The most dangerous symptoms are difficulty breathing, chest pain and loss of speech or mobility. If you feel any of the above symptoms please visit your nearest doctor and get the proper diagnosis done. Try to isolate yourself in the meantime if it’s possible.

Common cold symptoms include runny nose, sore throat and possible cough. A high fever is common in the flu.

Let’s understand what the common symptoms of these three are as this causes confusion amongst a lot of people.

  4. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  5. Sore throat
  6. Muscle pain and body aches
  7. Headache
  8. Vomiting and diarrhea
  9. Change in or loss of taste or smell (although, this is more common with COVID-19)

How to be sure and what do you if have from these symptoms?

First of all, don’t panic it is not helpful. If it is a common cold or flu, the symptoms are unlikely to get worse. Try to find out whether you drank a lot of cold water or other beverage, whether you have consumed ice cream as these are the most common causes for cold. Try to identify if you have come in contact with a person showing similar symptoms and how long ago was the interaction. If you are still unsure and if the symptoms are not going away visit, your nearest doctor and ask for an RT-PCR test as it is the best option for an accurate diagnosis of covid.

In the meantime, you can do certain things that will keep you safe and healthy this winter season.

  • Avoid large gathering
  • Boost your immunity
  • Avoid eating and drinking a lot of cold food items
  • Take steam frequently
  • Use mask in public place
  • Keep yourself hydrated
