After menopause, women need to be especially vigilant about maintaining their bone mass and muscle strength. Here are five essential steps all women should take to help improve and maintain their bone health:
- Ensure a bone-healthy dietthat includes enough dietary calcium and protein, with enough fruits and vegetables to balance the increased need for protein. While dairy products provide the highest levels of calcium, women also need vitamin D through safe exposure to sunlight or vitamin-D rich foods to convert the calcium into bone mineral.
