2017 - Health & fitness only gets better from here, read about my fitness week!

2016 is coming to an end and as I look back I can see how far I have come and how much I have learned. This year proved to be a fruitful year for my running, I ran my very first Full marathon in February , IDBI New Delhi Marathon in?3:56:53, after 7 months I ran my second FM, Berlin Marathon in 3:37:22.

I started approaching my training runs with more focus and determination; if somehow I was unable to meet a certain target I didn't ponder too much, I moved on and tried to perfect the next one. I have learnt a very important lesson, in order to improve or succeed one has to embrace her challenges & if you fight too hard to beat them, you fail miserably.

I ran a 32km last Saturday in our last long training run before SCMM. A great community run organized by the Soles of Bangalore. It almost felt like running a race with so many runners around you; great hydration management, fueled by fast and up Reload, amazing volunteers and cycling crew throughout the course. One couldn't have asked for a better practice run than this.

After the long run I ran another 'Christmas 10K Run' on one of the most challenging courses around Bangalore. If running 32km wasn't enough, this beautiful yet tough route really put each and every muscle in your leg to work.

All the different pieces of my training ?seemed to be coming together this week. After the long run and hard run I took a well deserved rest day.

Post my rest day I was all geared up for another week of training( I don't forget to take ProTotal and Charge even on my rest days).

Day 2 - I ran a super fast run on the treadmill?on Wednesday. Pradeep (he was training me that day as Yash was unavailable) asked me If I would be able to do my endurance training as I was lying on the floor, huffing and puffing. I told him I didn't know if I would be able to finish all my sets but let's get started!

To my shocking surprise, I did complete my endurance training. I thought I would be wiped out in the first 15 minutes itself but I think I did pretty well.

I was a very happy girl, basking in the afterglow of a tough workout, who was later found snoozing at work around?10:30am?:P

Training harder than ever!

Day 3 - After the 'Spartan' style training?on Wednesday, I had my dreading speed work out on Thursday. I wasn't sure if I would do justice to my targets. I woke up at?4:00am, though my alarm was supposed to go off at?4:30am; my lazy body constantly reminded me that I must surrender myself back to my bed but I fought hard real hard and finally stepped out ;)

Thursday?Morning: After consuming the usual banana and Fast&Up Activate, I thoroughly foam rolled my calf, it has been giving me issues since a couple of weeks. I grabbed a small bottle filled with water and set out in the dark.

Short Jog - Check

Dynamic Warm Up -check ( it was a speed work)

Water Bottle - Check (This is when I realized I had forgotten my Fast&Up Reload at home)

I ran from my home to Cubbon park and back, it was windy and cold as per Bangalore standards. The run went smoothly and I gloriously met my target. I immediately took ProTotal?to replace lost nutrients so that I don't feel drained out post the run. It turned out to be one of my best timed training runs, especially after I have been on the ProTotal program and started training for SCMM.

Day 4 - Easy Run

This week in particular turned out high on speed, I was able to push harder and ran faster in all my back to back workouts.?Hope this streak stays alive in 2017!

Have a happy New Year :)

Regards,

Ankita.
