1. Career Highlights - Medals of Glory
Vandana has been running from past 3 years during which she has completed 3 full marathons, 15 Half-marathons and several 10k&s. Her best FM was at New Delhi Marathon 2016 where she clocked 4:05!

2. Her sport & what she loves about it - Her Passion
Vandana loves running because running is the most effective form of stress-management for her. It gives her enough energy to get through the day. Simply put, running makes her happy!

3. What got her started - How the journey began
In Vandana's words, 'My uncle is an avid runner. I always wondered about how someone can run so far and so long. Running happened to me at Chennai post-delivery when I noticed Nunghambakkam runners training regularly. I couldn&t run more than few minutes on the first day and then I also realised that running made me happy and stress-free. My walk breaks between feeding and diaper-changing slowly turned into run breaks. That&s how it all started!'

4. Her fitness mantra
Running is like therapy! It is definitely therapeutic Vandana :)

5. Biggest sport challenge
For Vandana, her biggest challenge has been to get proper guidance about diet and nutrition.

6. Favorite sport memory
Vandana's favorite sport memory was her first marathon at Hyderabad in 2014.

7. What she'd like to share with fellow fitness enthusiasts
Vandana says the following, 'People usually ignore importance of nutrition during training. Nourishing your body well will help you recover fast and improve performance.'

9. What her normal training day looks like
Vandana runs for an hour 4 times a week followed by strength training. She ends her day practicing yoga.

Vandana eats a well- balanced diet with lots of vegetables, nuts and lean meat. She also keeps hydrating throughout the day. (Such an important thing to do and yet so often neglected!)

Vandana's biggest motivators are her family and friends.

14. What pushes her to the finish line
In her words, 'I constantly remind myself of all the time and efforts I have invested in training. I visualise talking to my hubby and son of how I coped with all the negative thoughts during my race.'

16. Importance of sports nutrition in her life
Vandana believes that along with proper training plan and recovery, nutrition is very important for optimal performance. Proper nutrition must be taken pre/during/post runs. She believes to sustain energy during training and races depends on what you choose to fuel your body.
